Future Pathways
Program Description At Future Pathways, students will demonstrate the necessary understandings in each subject area by participating in project-based, student-centered learning. They will help design what they wish to study and learn, use technology to help uncover ideas, and present their projects as though they are the expert in the area that they are learning. Revision is the center of learning. The student works toward high quality outcomes and often experiences revision in order to meet the expectation of deep understanding. The learning criteria is based on the pedagogy of Understanding by Design, Grant Wiggins and Jaye McTighe, the Buck Institutes Project Based Learning and the "Rigor and Relevance Framework" from the International Center for Leadership in Education. Future Pathways is a high school program located on the 4th floor of Central Campus. Future Pathways serves students who may be in need of a flexible environment, hands-on learning, and personalized educational experiences in order to complete their high school diploma.
Students will receive support and guidance from their teachers and advocate in developing learning plans that will help the students reach their educational goals.
Students are referred to Future Pathways through their home school representative. From there, a Future Pathways advisor will call the student and the parent with some questions and information and will follow up with a date for orientation.
